(For some reason, when I updated the image last night, it also took down the post? Sorry about that!)
Hi Everyone,
Happy Saturday night! I’m currently at Dave & Buster’s in Long Island – my email’s been giving me issues, so if I haven’t replied to an email, I promise I’m not being rude! (It’s also why I haven’t been able to send Javendean and Damian’s papers out!)
Excellent job on the responses so far! Also, I will add this to the schedule, but all revisions/blog posts can be submitted up to December 28th. Remember, you can keep revising until you get an A.
On Tuesday, I will pass around a sheet to organize one on one meetups with all of you to touch base and discuss the papers.
Also, don’t worry about the critical lens draft not being “perfect.” Half of our class time on Tuesday will be interactive peer review so all questions will be answered.
❤️ you all!
QOTD: Do you play pool/cards/bowl? (Question inspired by seeing an Orthodox Jewish couple here playing pool)
I prefer to swim in the pool! 😉 ….what about chase?

I play spit and Chinese poker. Not sure if you’ve ever heard of spit but it’s addictive.

I haven’t! Please explain it to me!

Sure no problem professor.
(I used to play this game at camp all the time since we were in the middle of the forest with no internet. I have amazing stories from being a camper and a counselor.)
To play spit you will need:
– A deck of cards
– Two people
– An audience for your opponent to be shamed
Risk:
– You may break your hand
– You will no longer have comrades (This is especially true if you win all the time. I recommend staying away from this game if you’re at camp playing against a counselor or as a counselor because it brings out the true side of a person.) (If you’re in the middle of the forest it is very nice to have comrades when the resident bears shows up.)
Game play:
Remove all jokers and misc. cards from the deck, you should be left with 52 cards.
Split the cards so that you and your ENEMY have 26 cards each.
There are two ways of playing this game, the first one is:
(There are many versions but the one I play with has the spit pile on the side of the middle cards.)
To setup the BATTLEFIELD you place 1 card facing upwards (near your left hand) then 1 card facing downwards 4 more times going towards your right hand. You then place an upwards facing card on the 2nd card, then you place 1 more downwards facing cards on the remaining face down cards. You do this until all piles have a face up card. (It’s really hard to put into words so if you want I’ll make an excel sheet showing how it’s done).
Once your side has been setup the ENEMY will do the same. You will then place the remaining cards that you have in the middle (Each person will place the pile near horizontal to their left hand).
You can then stack the similar cards onto each other, so if you have 2 9’s that are upwards you can place them on each other. If this happens you can then flip a downward facing card up.
To actually play the game you flip the top card from your spit pile onto the middle and start placing cards. If the upwards spit card is a 5 you can only place one 4 or 6 onto it. Here’s a spreadsheet I made to show you what can go onto what:
https://imgur.com/a/3GTtdBI
You keep placing down cards and flipping them until you no longer have cards until you or your opponent can no longer place anymore cards because none of the cards you have match with the ones in the middle. You then flip over another card from your spit pile and put it in the middle (both of you do this).
Once you or your opponent no longer have cards you you slam down on the smallest pile and pick it up. You also take your spit pile which should be the one the one horizontal to your left hand.
You then repeat this until your spit pile has no cards in it, if you slap that spit pile you win the game.
This is much easier to demonstrate than actually typing out. So please forgive me for my bad instructions.

I would say I’m educating her professor. If she sends a nice Jewish boy “hey what are u doing” how would that come off as?
Although there is a tad bit of teasing going on, yes.

Wait I’d like to add onto my previous comment. If the boy can’t see signs as clearly as Eliana can that I fear for them both.

I see Eliana with a tall gentleman with a nice tall gentleman with brown hair and a simple black kippah. The perfect gentleman!

Because in order to get a mans you need to use proper grammar. Not to mention spelling you’re, your, and you correctly.

It’s super fun! This is prob a stupid question, but is there a bowling alley in Five Towns? Daniel said a lot of Jewish couples go on dates to Dave and Buster’s (and I saw a bunch yesterday) but isn’t Westbury far from Five Towns…?
